Public Health Intern
Chelsea Estrella Manzanares is a Public Health intern for the Education and Outreach team in the RRC. She earned her undergraduate degree in Ethnic Studies at the University of Utah in 2017, and has a strong background in education, community organizing, and engagement. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health, with a certificate in Gender Studies. Her research interests
Chelsea shares a deep sense of compassion, and dedication for the mental health and well-being of historically marginalized communities. The combination of her undergraduate degree, professional work in medical settings, and lived experiences in mental health has truly ignited her sense of purpose. She aspires to direct or coordinate support and resources for the communities she cares so very much about.
During the academic year, Chelsea also works in the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs as a graduate assistant for the Diversity Transfer Program. She is the first Public Health student in the center and has taken the lead on mental health planning and programming. Her devotion to her work has spearheaded a partnership between CESA and the University Counseling Center. Since then, she has introduced a Stress Support Group which she co-facilitates with a licensed clinical therapist on campus.
A natural creative, Chelsea enjoys painting sky scenes and never turns down the opportunity to enjoy the warmth of a sunset. The eldest of a loving family of seven, she adores the time she spends laughing and making memories with her younger siblings.
