Karishma is an intern at the Rape Recovery Center for the 2019/2020 school year. She is in her senior year at the University of Utah, pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering. She is interested in pursuing a career in medicine as a primary care physician but is also passionate about social justice. She has previously published an article in the Hinckley Journal of Politics evaluating the paradigms of social inequality that exist within the United States and is hoping for practical experience fighting gender inequality through her internship at the Rape Recovery Center. She is especially passionate about outreach efforts related to the medical community with an emphasis on domestic and sexual violence. She has worked previously in the restorative justice program Peer Court as a high school and undergraduate volunteer and is excited to apply similar ideas to the efforts of primary prevention in regard to sexual violence within the Salt Lake community.
