Katherine Aguilera believes that forging relationships with community, clients and co-workers is built on transparency, collaboration and meeting people where they’re at. She studied sociology and psychology at Westminster College while working a corporate job. She proceeded to enter the field of sexual violence advocacy by joining the Hospital Response Team --ensuring client-centered advocacy with empowerment at the forefront of every interaction. Passionate about the work, a move into a Client Liaison Advocate position was a natural fit. With encouragement from community members, friends and family she ventured into the position of Advocacy Coordinator, working closely overseeing day-to-day operations of the crisis line, mobile and in-house advocacy services. Today you can find Katherine directing stabilization services and programming, mentoring advocates and learning with and from the amazing community that makes up the Rape Recovery Center.
In her free time, Katherine enjoys cooking with her husband and inventing new recipes. She especially looks forward to feeding people (and her pets) the delicious food she makes. She is also active in the community and passionate about bringing others in to join, support and impact social justice work. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve her community in the capacity of Advocacy Coordinator and ensure that survivors are welcomed, empowered and supported. She believes wholeheartedly in the power of resiliency, courage, mindfulness and compassion in the works she does with clients and herself.
