May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an opportunity for us to talk about an issue that impacts all of us. This May, we invite you to find ways to get involved with this issue. Here are some ideas:

  • Share your own #WhyCare story on social media, letting those in your network know why this issue is important to you personally.

  • Get to know the resources available for mental health crisis in your community. Here is Salt Lake County, we have great resources like the UNI Crisis Team and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

  • Donate your time and money to organizations that provide mental health services. There are many of these organizations in our community, including our fabulous team of therapists and advocates at the Rape Recovery Center who offer no cost services to those who are navigating the mental health consequences of sexual trauma. You can support these services by donating to our center, or find another organization to give to using this resources tool offered by United Way.
