Stephany believes in the power of education and dialogue to radically transform our communities. She has been with the Rape Recovery Center since 2010, originally as Diversity Coordinator then transitioning to Coordinator of Education and then Director of Education and Outreach. She approaches community work with a focus on social justice, creating access for historically underserved populations and an inherent belief that all individuals can work towards nonviolence. At her time at the Rape Recovery Center she has spearheaded, institutionalizing spanish speaking communities into all aspects of the center and co-creating violence prevention curricula for Latinx, Pacific Islander and LGBTQ+ youth and their families.
Stephany is currently pursuing a Master’s of Public Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management at the University of Utah. She currently serves as a Community Engaged Scholar for UNP Hartland Partnership Center. Working to increase economic and civic capacity on the west side of Salt Lake City by supporting new nonprofits and businesses. She graduated from the University of Utah with two bachelor's degrees in Mass Communication and Political Science with a minor in Ethnic Studies.
In her free time, Stephany enjoys spending time with her son, sitting on the board of Westside Dance Utah, volunteering for local organizations, and listening to true crime podcasts.
