Looking Back, Moving Forward

Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2026

As we enter Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in April 2026, we join the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and communities nationwide in honoring this year’s theme: “Looking Back, Moving Forward.”

This theme recognizes the strength of survivors, the decades of advocacy that brought us to this moment, and the collective determination to keep building a future free from sexual violence. For 25 years, SAAM has mobilized communities, challenged harmful norms, and created space for healing, education, and prevention. This month, we reflect on the progress made - and recommit ourselves to the work ahead.

At the Rape Recovery Center, we see every day how courage and community pave the way for healing. Survivors are not alone. Their stories fuel change, their resilience inspires action, and their voices continue to shape the movement. Together, we honor the past, uplift the present, and strengthen our shared path forward.
