Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2026

Salt Lake City, Utah - The Rape Recovery Center is pleased to announce that April 2026 is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a national awareness month focused on supporting survivors and increasing public knowledge of the prevalence of sexual violence. This year’s theme, 25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward, marks the 25th anniversary of the campaign and represents the importance of recognizing the strides we have made while continuing to aim for a world free from sexual violence.

April's Sexual Assault Awareness Month reminds us that sexual violence is not just an individual issue, but a community responsibility,” says Community Engagement Director Josse Sandres, “Supporting survivors begins with believing them, educating ourselves about consent and prevention, and being willing to have courageous conversations that challenge harmful norms. Each of us can make a difference by showing up with compassion, advocating for survivor-centered policies, and helping create spaces where safety, dignity, and respect are the standard.
